History
Its history started in 1671, during the rich and exciting time of the sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The Badshahi Mosque was built under Fida’i Khan, the governor of Lahore and the brother-in-law of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
The Persian architectural style also has had a good influence on the historical mosque.

According to a record, Emperor Aurangzeb asked that some barriers be placed in the river to keep the water away from the mosque and prevent damage to the inside and outside of the mosque.
Badshahi Mosque Structure
It is made of red sandstone structure with white marble. The mosque’s entrance conveys a sense of dignity and beauty. The entire name of the mosque is “Masjid Abul Zafar Muhy-ud-Din Mohammad Alamgir Badshah Ghazi” inlaid in marble above the domed entryway.
It also tells the emperor’s nice taste and choice at the period; both the inside and outside are nicely built.
